What this site does
Local Petrol Prices is a free tool for finding the cheapest petrol and diesel near you anywhere in the UK. Search by postcode to see the nearest forecourts and their current prices ranked closest-first, or browse a dedicated page for any of the 60+ UK counties covering average prices, the cheapest stations currently reporting, and how that area compares to the national picture. There's no account, no app download, and no charge to use it.
Where the data comes from
Every price shown on this site comes from HM Government's Fuel Finder scheme, an open data initiative that legally requires UK fuel retailers to report their pump prices, and to report any price change within 30 minutes of it taking effect. We don't edit, estimate, or supplement this data with our own figures — every price and station listed here is exactly what the retailer has published to Fuel Finder. If you ever spot a price that looks wrong, it should be reported directly to Fuel Finder, since we have no way to edit an individual station's figures ourselves.
How often prices update
An automated process fetches the latest data from the Fuel Finder API and rebuilds every page on this site every 4 hours, so figures are never more than a few hours out of date. This runs on its own schedule with no manual steps involved, which is also why you'll sometimes see prices change between visits even though you haven't refreshed anything yourself.
How averages and rankings are calculated
Each county's "average price" for a fuel type is a straightforward mean across every station in that county currently reporting a price for that fuel — stations that don't report a given fuel type simply aren't included in that fuel's average. The "cheapest 10" tables on each county page are a live ranking of the lowest currently-reported prices among stations in that area. National rankings (for example, "the 12th cheapest of 64 counties for diesel") compare every county's average against every other county's average for the same fuel, at the same point in time, so the comparison is always like-for-like.

Local Petrol Prices is free to use and funded by advertising served through Google AdSense. Advertising never affects which stations, brands, or prices are shown, or how anything is ranked — no station or fuel brand pays for placement or preferential treatment anywhere on this site.
